Our emus are the heart and soul of Together Built Farm. These majestic, curious birds captivate every guest who visits. Watch the adults strut through the pastures with their distinctive stride, and if you're lucky enough to visit during hatching season, you'll fall in love with our adorable emu chicks.
Emus are the second-largest living bird in the world, and ours have the most incredible personalities. They're curious, gentle, and always ready to say hello. It's an experience you truly can't find anywhere else in the Asheville area.

The Tillman Family
Together Built Farm is more than a vacation rental — it’s a first-generation family farm, owned and operated by people who live and work right here in the Asheville community. Erik & Jennifer Tillman, Erik’s brother Rafiq, and their two teenage children Ashley and Lynden pour their hearts into this land every single day.
In 2023, the Tillmans took a leap of faith and purchased this property with their life savings — a dream to build something real, something lasting, something together. Then in 2024, Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina hard. The farm took a beating, but the Tillmans didn’t give up. They’ve been rebuilding it better, stronger, and more beautiful than before.
